Personal History: Dr Millar was born and raised in Cullman Alabama. There he attended elementary and middle school. In the 8th grade, he won the Alabama State Science Fair and a scholarship to Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta Georgia.  That school changed its name and he graduated "college prep school" from Woodward Academy.  During, Dr Millar's last two years at Woodward Academy, he was dual enrolled at Ga Institute of Technology (Ga Tech).  He graduated from Elkins Institute at that time part of Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering. After receiving his FCC 1st Class Radio/TV Engineers' license, he joined the family business as Chief Engineer over 5 radio stations and 1 TV station. He continued his education and finished his Bachelors at Barry University in Miami, Fl.  His family also went into banking, real estate and construction development.

After a construction accident, Dr Millar had back surgery.  That event changed his life.  A year later he had a second back surgery.  A year later a third to cut out scar tissue from the first two surgeries. He stated that "he was in constant pain 24 hours a day every day."  Trying to get out of pain, Dr Millar studied bio-mechanical trauma and kinesiology, "that helped some."  His brother suggested Chiropractic; but, Dr. Millar remembers saying, "I need a real Doctor, not a Chiropractor. I've had back surgery and NO Chiropractor is going to crack my back."  Dr Millar expressed that 30 years ago Chiropractors weren't accepted like today.  He further stated "At the time, he was scared of Chiropractors. He really didn't personally know what they did or didn't do. He was just scared of the unknown."  He went on to say, "they were talking about another surgery at the time and my surgeon said "No Way" to Chiropractic." Dr Millar stated, "I got to the point that I had no other options.  I had tried everything else and was still in pain. Medicine had failed me. I had nothing else to loose, so I tried Chiropractic." "Within six weeks my pain had dropped 50%.  I was able to start getting off some of the pain meds.  I had been in pain every day for the past two years and what finally got me out of pain was Chiropractic."  For this reason, Dr Millar shared that he became passionate about sharing Chiropractic with others.

"I told my family that I was going to Chiropractic School," they laughed.  They told me I was nearly 40 and too old. He moved to Atlanta and started over again in college taking courses at two colleges to get the science courses he needed to get into Chiropractic school.  He then attended Life University, College of Chiropractic where he was President of his Class, and President of the Student Body and many times on the Deans list.  In post graduate training he studied extremity adjusting (hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrist. hands, TMJ and ribs) and earned his Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner, CCEP designation. He has passed all four parts of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as well as the Alabama State Board of Chiropractic Examination.  He has completed additional post graduate study in Neurology, Orthopedics, Physiological Therapeutics, Auto Accidents, Trauma, and Non Surgical Disc Treatments (Decompression Traction) for Bulging and Herniated Disc problems.

For several years, as a professor, Dr Millar taught Anatomy and Physiology at several local colleges (Wallace State & Calhoun College).  Dr. Millar in 2001 was approached by WAAY TV Channel 31 the ABC affiliate in Huntsville about developing a 30 minute live medical call in talk show. The Show "MedLine" was born in 2002 with medical doctors and chiropractors openly discussing their similarities and differences in treating various conditions. The show quickly gained a loyal following and is today one of the top medical talk shows in Alabama with thousands watching each week. Many local area internist, orthopedist, neurologist, cardiologist, radiologist, and many others have joined Dr Millar on the show.

In 2003 Dr Millar opened the Millar Disc Treatment Center now Alabama Laser Spine and was asked to work closely with UAB Dept of Neurosurgery, Dr Mark Hadley MD helping to develop the UAB Dept of Neurosurgery Chiropractic Care Team.  The idea was that to further train Chiropractors to integrate with Medical Doctors and specifically Neurosurgeons to provide conservative care to patients before surgery and rehabilitative care post surgery. The program has been a great success.

He enjoys diagnosing and developing treatment plans for Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, and difficult cases, before or after surgery, like herniated, bulging and prolapsed disc cases with and without radicular pain. He enjoys helping patients find non surgical solutions for disc problems, Stenosis and Degenerative Disc Disease and Degenerative Facet Disease cases. He has pioneered multi-disciplined approaches utilizing Chiropractors, Physical Therapist, Physiatrist, MD's and DO's working under one roof. Along with UAB Dr. Millar, Dr Hadley and Dr Spurlock developed prehabilitaiton for disc related disorders. About Dr Greg Millar DC
Dr Greg Millar DC CCEP, Chiropractic Physician, Founder & CEO

Dr. Millar worked and practiced with the neurosurgeons of UAB Dept of Neurosurgery for 10 years. Dr. Millar was a charter member of the UAB Dept of Neurosurgery Chiropractic Care Team. After undergoing additional training with UAB Neurosurgeons like Dr. Mark Hadley MD, Dr Millar treated and co-managed patients with the UAB Neurosurgery team. Dr Millar and his team managed three kinds of patients for UAB Neurosurgery. Those that needed conservative care (decompression traction and rehabilitation); those with multiple segment disorder where one segment may be at or near surgery but other segments needed conservative care and pre and post surgery rehabilitation. Dr Millar and UAB opened the UAB North Outreach Clinic in Decatur where the Neurosurgeons from UAB could offer neurosurgical consult and services to North Alabama patients.

Dr. Millar in addition to being a chiropractic physician holds the CCEP designation Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner. This is up to an additional 2 years of extra study primarily on legs and arms and their associated joints and nerves. The CCEP gives Dr. Millar unique in-site to radiating pain and weakness into the arms and/or legs associated with bulging and herniated disc in the neck or low back.

Dr Millar founded and practices at the Neuropathy Laser Center Huntsville and Alabama Laser Spine Decompression. Dr Millar practices three days per week at the Alabama Laser Spine Decompression specializing in Herniated and Bulging Disc, Stenosis, Degenerative Disc Disease and more using the Laser Assisted Decompression Therapy and the LADR Protocol he pioneered. Dr Millar and his team also treats "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome." Dr Millar is known for his diagnostic "rock turning over" "find the root cause" practice. Dr MIllar likes to say, "If you don't really know what is causing the problem, you can't fix it."

Dr Millar also practices two days per week at the Neuropathy Laser Center Huntsville. There he treats Neuropathy: Peripheral, Diabetic Neuropathy and Chemo Induced Neuropathy as well as leg pain and weakness. He also treats Ankle Pain, Foot Pain and Plantar Fasciitis.  You can contact him there at (256) 830-4545. He holds the CCEP designation Certified Extremity Practitioner. This designation takes about 2 years of extra study just on the extremities like the Legs and Feet. He along with other Neuropathy Laser Center doctors developed the LAR Protocol for the treatment of Neuropathy using MLS Lasers, Anodyne and Rebuilder.

Dr Millar also developed the "Millar Facet Table" with the "Millar Facet Protocol"  to treat Facet pain from degenerative facet disease, facet arthropathy, and facet syndrome. All of the Millar Chiropractic Clinics have these tables. So if you need to lean over the "buggy" when you go shopping or if you are always looking for a bench to sit down for "just a minute till your back can stop hurting" then you need the Millar Facet Protocol and the Millar Facet Table.

Dr Millar personally does not accept any insurance. He normally treats things that are not covered by insurance such as Lasers and Laser Assisted Decompression Traction; Laser treatment for Neuropathy and Failed Back Surgery Syndrome. He will gladly provide you with a superbill so you can send it to your insurance company. He is not in network nor a participating provider with any insurance company including BCBS of AL and Medicare.
